What happens when the bot reaches voicemail?

Your dialer's answering machine detection runs first, and the bot catches what it misses.

Around a third of connected calls on a typical list have nobody on them, so voicemail is caught in two places.

  1. 1Your dialer's own answering machine detection runs before the call reaches the bot.
  2. 2The bot listens for voicemail greetings such as "leave your name and number" or "after the tone", and treats two turns in a row with no words from the caller as a machine.

When a machine is detected the bot hangs up and sets the answering-machine status on your dialer. New workspaces use the status AA, so check that it exists on your dialer, or ask us to change it. A flow can also have its own machine branch if you want something different.

Heads up
If the bot is talking to voicemail, the usual causes are answering machine detection being switched off on the dialer campaign, or the workspace using the self-hosted speech engine, which does not support voicemail detection.
